dc.description.abstractBu tez, XII. yüzyılda Hristiyan bir seyyah olan Theoderich'in, Filistin ve kutsal mekânlara dair kendi gözlemleriyle birlikte başkalarından edindiği güvenilir bilgilere dayanan eserini dilimize kazandırmayı ve söz konusu mekânlara dair bireysel deneyimlerini derinlemesine incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. İncelediğimiz eser, Haçlı Seferleri dönemi ve sonrasını kapsayan bir süreci ele almakta olup, hac yolculukları sırasında karşılaşılan mimari yapıları ve bu yapıların öne çıkan özelliklerini detaylı bir şekilde betimlemektedir. Ayrıca, bölgede yaşayan Müslümanlar ve Doğu Hristiyanlarına dair gözlemler, eserde önemli bir yer tutmakta ve bu toplulukların dini, kültürel yaşamlarına dair değerli bilgiler sunmaktadır. Eser, Kudüs'ün coğrafyasını, şehrin surlarıyla birlikte iç ve dışındaki kutsal mekânların çevresini coğrafi, dini ve ticari açılardan kapsamlı bir şekilde ele almaktadır. Müellifin, bizzat şahit olduğu gözlemler aracılığıyla aktardığı bilgiler, eserin yazılma amacını net bir biçimde ortaya koymaktadır. Gözleme dayalı bir yaklaşım benimseyen müellif, bu sayede eserin tarihsel ve kültürel önemini pekiştirmekte ve Kudüs'ün farklı yönlerine dair derinlemesine bir anlayış sunmaktadır. dc.description.abstractThis thesis aims to translate into our language the work of Theoderich, a 12th- century Christian traveler, which as based both on his own observations of Palestine and the holy places, and on reliable information obtained from others, and to conduct an in-depth analysis of his personal experiences regarding these sites. The work under examination covers the period of the Crusades and the years that followed, providing detailed descriptions of architectural structures encountered during pilgrimage journeys, along with their prominent features, In addition, the text devotes considerable attention to observations about the Muslims and Eastern Christians living in the region, offering valuable insights into the religious and cultural lives of these communities. The work offers a comprehensive account of the geography of Jerusalem, including the city walls and the surroundings of the sacred sites both within and outside the city, from geographical, religious, and commercial perspectives. The information conveyed through the author's firsthand observations clearly reveals the purpose behind the composition of the text. By adopting an observational approach, the author reinforces the historical and cultural significance of the work and provides a deep understanding of the various dimensions of Jerusalem.
