Özet

Warthin-like pappillary thyroid carcinoma is a rarely seen variant of thyroid papillary carcinoma. The name of the tumor originates from salivary gland's resemblance to Warthin tumor morphologically. A 39-year old female patient whose nodular goiter had been followed for 5 years applied to our clinic for the swelling on her neck. The fine-needle aspiration biopsy performed on the nodule identified in the patient's right lobe of thyroid revealed papillary thyroid carcinoma. The patient underwent bilateral total thyroidectomy. Tumor cells was monitored with clear nuclei, and nuclear pseudoinclusions. Intense lymphocytic cells in the middle of the papillary structures were identified. Notwithstanding that there is a limited number of knowledge about the prognosis of the warthin-like thyroid tumors, the literature, in general, shows that they have mostly good prognosis. © 2015 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
