A Rare Case Report: Cavernous Hemangioma of the Thyroid
(Gazi Univ, Fac Med, 2014) Keren, Fatma; Demirci, Huseyin; Ceydilek, Bilge; Arslan, Nur
Hemangiomas are benign tumoral formations which can be seen in many organs. Although it is rare at thyroid tissue, often it consists of after thyroid fine-needle biopsy. These cases can not be diagnosed with imaging methods. Its final diagnosis is histopathological. Here, we will present a case report. The patient was followed due to multinodular goitre and had a total thyroidectomy operation with suspicion of malignancy after thyroid fine-needle biopsy . After the operation she was diagnosed to have cavernous hemangioma of the thyroid. In the literature, a few cases which were operated with suspected malignancy have been reported as cavernous hemangioma of the thyroid. The available information shows that; while approaching to thyroid nodules, cavernous hemangioma of the thyroid should be considered and must be made differential diagnosis with malignancy.

Pregnancy with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia: A Case Report
(Gazi Univ, Fac Med, 2015) Akdeniz, Derya; Demirci, Huseyin; Ceydilek, Bilge; Yavuz, Halise Cinar
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a group of autosomal recessive disorders characterized by impaired cortisol synthesis. Dysregulation of corticotropin synthesis often leads to increased synthesis of adrenal androgens. Low fertility is often and troublesome condition in patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia. In this report, we presented a case report which is a woman with non-classical hyperplasia who were pregnant and followed until delivery in our clinic.

Role of interlekin-35 as a biomarker in patients with newly diagnosed hashimoto’s thyroiditis
(Institute of Experimental Endocrinology macvetrev@fvm.ukim.edu.mk, 2016) Yilmaz, Hakki; Çakmak, Muzaffer; Ceydilek, Bilge; Demir, Canan; Aktas, Aynur
Objective. Interleukin-35 (IL-35), an interleukin-12 (IL-12) cytokine family member, is shown to be a potent immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory cytokine. Inducible regulatory T cells (Tregs) produce IL-35 that mediates the immune inhibitory function of Tregs. Growing evidence revealed that upregulation of IL-35 expression may play a critical role in the prevention of autoimmune diseases in various experimental autoimmunity models and vice versa. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is considered to be a Treg cell-related autoimmune disease with loss of self-tolerance. Methods. One hundred-twenty eight subjects, newly diagnosed hypothyroid HT patients [56 overt (Group 1), 72 subclinical hypothyroid (Group 2)] and 38 healthy controls (Group 3) were enrolled in the study. The levels of serum IL-35 were determined by enzyme-linked immunosor-bent assay (ELISA). Results. Serum IL-35 levels were lower in the HT group when compared with subclinical HT group [304.5 (834.6) pg/ml vs. 636.1 (1542.0) pg/ml, p=0.004] and control cases [304.5 (834.6) pg/ml vs. 1064.7 (2526.8) pg/ml, p<0.001]. Serum IL-35 levels were inversely associated with thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH; rs=–0.396, p<0.001) and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb; rs=–0.571, p<0.001) in whole group. Serum IL-35 were negatively associated with TSH (rs=–0.264, p=0.003) and TPOAb (rs=–0.735, p<0.001) in patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (Group 1 + Group 2). Conclusion. The results suggest that IL-35 may play a role in the pathogenesis of HT. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.

Warthin like papillary carcinoma of the thyroid: A case report
(Gazi Universitesi, 2015) Ceydilek, Bilge; Demirci, Hüseyin; Yavuz, Halise Çinar; Bayrak, Reyhan
Warthin-like pappillary thyroid carcinoma is a rarely seen variant of thyroid papillary carcinoma. The name of the tumor originates from salivary gland's resemblance to Warthin tumor morphologically. A 39-year old female patient whose nodular goiter had been followed for 5 years applied to our clinic for the swelling on her neck. The fine-needle aspiration biopsy performed on the nodule identified in the patient's right lobe of thyroid revealed papillary thyroid carcinoma. The patient underwent bilateral total thyroidectomy. Tumor cells was monitored with clear nuclei, and nuclear pseudoinclusions. Intense lymphocytic cells in the middle of the papillary structures were identified. Notwithstanding that there is a limited number of knowledge about the prognosis of the warthin-like thyroid tumors, the literature, in general, shows that they have mostly good prognosis. © 2015 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
