Factors Affectıng The Indıvıdual Instrument Preferences Of The Students Receıvıng Vocatıonal Musıc Educatıon

Abstract

One of the factors affecting the learning processes of students receiving vocational music education is individual instrument preferences. Factors such as students' body structure, environmental factors, type of music, and characteristics of educational institutions are effective in their instrument preferences. In this study, it is aimed to examine the factors that affect the individual instrument preferences of the students who receive professional music education at the undergraduate level during their undergraduate education. The data used in the research were collected through a structured interview form consisting of 13 questions in order to get the opinions of the participants about their demographic characteristics and instrument preferences. The views obtained by using the content analysis method were analyzed and interpreted thematically. The population of the research consists of institutions that receive vocational music education at undergraduate level in Turkey, and the sample consists of music education departments of five different universities. In the study, 3rd and 4th grade students (f=165) studying at the universities selected as the sample in the 2018-2019 academic year were determined as the study group. According to the data obtained, it was concluded that the factors such as "love for the instrument", "experience gained in the instrument", "teacher", "type of music" and "school facilities", which were determined to be effective in the instrument preferences of the participants, were in the majority.

Mesleki müzik eğitimi alan öğrencilerin öğrenim süreçlerini etkileyen faktörlerden biri bireysel çalgı tercihleridir. Öğrencilerin vücut yapısı, çevresel etkenler, müzik türü, eğitim kurumlarının özellikleri gibi faktörler çalgı tercihlerinde etkili olmaktadır. Bu araştırmada lisans düzeyinde mesleki müzik eğitimi alan öğrencilerin lisans öğrenimleri sürecinde bireysel çalgı tercihlerini etkileyen faktörlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Durum tespitine yönelik tarama modelinde yapılan bu araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan veriler, katılımcıların demografik özellikleri ve çalgı tercihleri ile ilgili görüşlerinin alınması amacıyla 12 sorudan oluşan, yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak elde edilen görüşler tematik olarak incelenmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Türkiye’de lisans düzeyinde mesleki müzik eğitimi veren kurumlar, örneklemini ise beş farklı üniversitenin müzik eğitimi veren bölümleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada örneklem olarak seçilmiş üniversitelerde 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında öğrenim gören 3. ve 4. sınıf öğrencileri (f=165) çalışma grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen verilere göre katılımcıların çalgı tercihlerinde etkili olduğu belirlenen “çalgıya duyulan sevgi”, “çalgıda edinilen tecrübe”, “öğretmen”, “müzik türü” ve “okulun imkanları” faktörlerinin çoğunlukta olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
