dc.description.abstractThe narrator begins by describing how he discovered the Karnak Café in Cairo and fell under the quiet charm of Kurunfula, a former belly dancer and owner of the café. He soon became part of the café's regulars, who represent a cross-section of Egyptian society in the early 1960s. The socio-political events surrounding the 1952 Revolution and the June 1967 War in modern Egyptian history are explored in depth in the novel. The people portrayed in the novel are fictional characters who represent the various social strata in Egypt at the time and reflect the Egyptian people of the time. The perspectives and analyzes of the novel's protagonists on the events that took place are included. Karnak Café is included in the work as a place symbolizing Egypt, where the characters who experienced the events of the period come together and chat. In the work, the change of Egypt over time and the events affecting the individual and society as a whole are discussed. In addition, as a result of the 1952 Egyptian Revolution, the destruction caused by the uncertainty of the future in all segments of society and the negative effects of uncertainty on individuals are described through the characters. The work was translated into Turkish by Leyla Basmacı Tonguç in 2007 under the title Karnak Kafe, as the protagonists gathered in the cafe to discuss the events of the revolutions that took place in Egypt. In this study, the event fiction in al-Karnak (?????????) by Naj?b Mahfouz is discussed.
dc.description.abstractAnlatıcı eserine, Kahire'deki Karnak Kafe'yi nasıl keşfettiğini, eski bir dansöz ve kafenin sahibi olan Kurunfula'nın sessiz cazibesine nasıl kapıldığını anlatarak başlar. Anlatıcı kısa sürede kafenin 1960'ların başındaki Mısır toplumunun bir kesitini temsil eden müdavimlerinin bir parçası haline geldiğini anlatır. Romanda, modern Mısır tarihinde 1952 Devrimi ve Haziran 1967 Savaşı'nı çevreleyen sosyo-politik olaylar derinlemesine incelenmiştir. Romanda tasvir edilen kişiler, o dönemde Mısır'daki çeşitli sosyal katmanları temsil eden ve dönemin Mısır halkını yansıtan kurgusal karakterlerden oluşturulmuştur. Roman kahramanlarının meydana gelen olaylara bakış açılarına ve analizlerine yer verilmiştir. Karnak Kafe dönemin olaylarını yaşayan karakterlerin bir araya gelip sohbet ettikleri Mısır’ı sembolize eden bir mekân olarak eserde yer almaktadır. Eserde Mısır’ın zaman içerisindeki değişimi, bireyden toplumun tamamına etki eden olaylar ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca eserde 1952 Mısır Devrimi neticesinde toplumun bütün kesimlerinde geleceğe dair bilinmezliğin yarattığı yıkım ve belirsizliğin bireyler üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri karakterler aracılığıyla anlatılmıştır. Eser Mısır’da meydana gelen devrimlerin Kafe’de bir araya gelen kahramanların cereyan eden olayları ele alıp tartışıp sohbet ettikleri için Leyla Basmacı Tonguç tarafından 2007 senesinde Karnak Kafe ismiyle Türkçe’ye tercüme edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Necîb Mahfûz tarafından telif edilen el-Karnak (?????????) adlı eserde yer alan olay kurgusu ele alınmıştır.
