Öğe Association of 2D:4D finger length ratio of People Working in different professions with personality traits(Cell Press, 2024) Uzun, Gokce Bagci; Inceoglu, FeyzaBackground: The ratio of the index finger (2nd finger) to the ring finger (4th finger) (2D:4D) can give information about harmony between personality and career of individuals. The developing technology makes it difficult to choose a profession. Aim: This study aims to contribute to the career choice of individuals by analyzing the relationship between the 2D:4D finger digit ratio and personality traits of individuals working in different professions (Educator, Worker, Housewife, Civil servant, Healthcare professional/EWHCH). Method: The participants were three hundred twenty-five individuals living in the province of Malatya. The SPSS 26.0 software was utilized in the data analysis. The p value of 0.05 was accepted as significance level in comparison tests. Results: A statistically significant difference was determined between the participants, who had the 2D shorter than the 4D in right hand, in terms of professional groups (p < 0.05). In healthcare workers, a low level (r = 0.305) positive correlation was found between right hand 2D4D and both control (r = 0.264) and curiosity and left hand 2D:4D, and a low level (r = 0.255) negative correlation was found between Conscientiousness and right hand 2D:4D in housewives. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups (educator, worker, housewife, civil servant, healthcare professional) in terms of total score of the Five-Factor Personality Inventory (FFPI) and scores of extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience subscales (p < 0.05). A weak positive statistically significant correlation was detected between the healthcare professionals' score of Career Adapt-abilities Scale (CAAS) control subscale and the right-hand 2D:4D ratio. Conclusions: It is suggested to investigate the 2D:4D ratio over different professional groups. The present study is important since it gives information about personality and associates such information with the 2D:4D ratio.Öğe Clinical reflection of anatomical evaluation in coccydynia(Soc Anatomica Espanola, 2024) Guler, Emel; Guler, Ilkay; Arslan, Ayla; Uzun, Gokce BagciCoccydynia is a pain in the coccyx and the surrounding anatomical structures. Our aim in the study was to evaluate whether the disease duration, pain assessment, and coccyx morphological type had an effect on this clinic in patients with a diagnosis of coccydynia. A total of 68 coccyx Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) results were evaluated. Coccyx segment number, morphological typing, lumbosacral, sacrococcygeal, and intercoccygeal angle measurements were made. Disease duration, day and night movement and the rest of Numerical Pain Scale (NRS) values were recorded from existing records of patients with a diagnosis of coccydynia. When the morphological typing was evaluated, type 4 subluxation was found to be high in the group with coccydynia. Pain complaint duration was 13.94 +/- 12.22 months, sitting time was 16.82 +/- 14.22 minutes, and the numerical pain scale was 7.62 +/- 1.48. Morphologically, type 1;14 (3 coccydynia), type 2;22 (9 coccydynia), type 3;14 (6 coccydynia), type 4;18 (16 coccydynia) images were also detected. A moderately statistically significant positive cor-- relation was found between the sacrococcygeal and intercoccygeal angles (p<0.05). We believe that evaluating clinical data and anatomical measurements together will contribute to the treatment of coccydynia, which is especially difficult to treat.Öğe Effect of carnosine on ovarian follicle in rats exposed to electromagnetic field(Soc Anatomica Espanola, 2022) Arslan, Ayla; Balcioglu, Esra; Nisari, Mehtap; Yalcin, Betul; Ulger, Menekse; Guler, Emel; Uzun, Gokce BagciThe electromagnetic field (EMF) has an effect on various organs, including the female reproductive system. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of carnosine on ovarian follicle number and diameter in rats exposed to a 900 Megahertz (Mhz) electromagnetic field. In this study, six different groups were used. 40 female rats divided into groups were evaluated. The ovaries of the rats were removed at the end of the study. Routine histological procedures were performed on ovarian tissues. Follicle number and diameter of all groups were calculated and evaluated under the light microscope. When primary follicle number and diameters were compared statistically among the groups, there was a remarkably meaningful difference between the EMF group and the control, 20 mg carnosine and EMF+20 mg carnosine groups (p<0.05). There were significant irregularities in the structure of the oocyte and the granulosa cells surrounding the oocyte, especially in the EMF-treated groups. However, the structure of the oocyte and the granulosa cells surrounding the oocyte in the EMF+20 mg carnosine group showed a more regular structure compared to the EMF group. In this study, it can be concluded that the number and diameter of ovarian follicles decreased in rats exposed to electromagnetic field and 20 mg of carnosine may prevent damage caused by EMF.Öğe Investigating the anti-tumoral effect of yarrow (Achillea milllefolium) on the mice in which ehrlich solid tumor is created(Humana Press Inc, 2022) Uzun, Gokce Bagci; Nisari, Mehtap; Yay, Arzu Hanim; Karatoprak, Gokce Seker; Al, Ozge; Ucar, Sumeyye; Arslan, AylaIn this study, BALB/c mice with Ehrlich solid tumors were used to examine the effect of Achillea millefolium L. (AM) extract on the Ehrlich ascites tumor (EAT) model, which is one of the experimental cancer models. Also known as yarrow and plant, AM has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antitumor properties. In our study, 57 male BALB/c type mice, 8-10 weeks old, weighing 25-30 g, were used. Mice were divided into two groups. Ehrlich Solid Tumor group: Negative Control Group (ENC), Positive Control Group (EPC), and Treatment Group (TG) (TNCAM-200 mg/kg, TPCAM-400 mg/kg). EPC and TG were given to EAT cells. Each EAT contained 1 x 106 (will be 6 out of 10: so:000000) EAT cells, 0.1 ml of phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) was administered subcutaneously (s.c.) to the nape of mice. Then It was awaited for solid tumor formation. AM extract was administered intraperitoneally (i.p.) to TG for 17 days to mice. AM extract was found to have a curative effect on areas of inflammation, bleeding, and necrosis in treatment groups treated with AM extract alone. The treatment groups showed nearly normal histological results compared to the positive control group. According to the results, the TPCAM-400 mg/kg group had a more significant histological impact than the TNCAM-200 mg/kg group. In terms of tumor growth, tumor length, tumor volume, and tumor weight, AM extract did not show significant effects. However, in the light of histological findings, promising results of AM were observed in mice in which Ehrlich Solid Tumor was formed.Öğe Investigating the correlation between 2D:4D finger digit ratios and attention gathering skills of 60-72 month-old children(Elsevier Ireland Ltd, 2023) Uzun, Gokce Bagci; Tok, YasinBackground: Digit ratio 2D:4D is used to follow children's development process and examine behaviours and abilities. Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between the 2D:4D digit ratios of 60-72 month-old children and their attention gathering skills, as well as whether the 2D:4D digit ratio and attention gathering skills of children differ based on independent variables. Method: The sample of the study, designed in the correlational survey model, consisted of a total of 112 children aged 60-72 months who were attending preschool education in Malatya province in Turkey. The data were analysed using SPSS packaged software. Results: It was determined that there was a positive low significant correlation between attention gathering skills and the right hand 2D:4D digit ratio in 60-72 month-old children. In addition to, no significant difference was found between the children's FTF-K scores and the right hand 2D:4D digit ratio in terms of the variable of mother's status of exercising, but there was a significant difference between their FTF-K scores and the left hand 2D:4D digit ratio in terms of the variable of the mother's status of exercising. Conclusions: The findings of the study demonstrate the importance of the study for revealing clues about children's attention gathering/concentration levels from their early periods, and promoting their attention gathering skills and generally their cognitive development.Öğe Investigation of the effects of pomegranate juice against toxicity in the testes in lead-administered rats(Soc Anatomica Espanola, 2024) Pekmez, Hidir; Annac, Ebru; Bulmus, Ozgur; Uzun, Gokce Bagci; Aydin, Merve; Aydin, AliLead (Pb) is a heavy metal that can damage various organs, tissues, and systems. Antioxidants are used to prevent or reduce the negative effects of heavy metals. Pomegranate juice (PJ) is one the antioxidants that alleviate the harmful effects of heavy metals. In this study, 28 Wistar albino rats were divided into four groups. These groups were determined as control (C), lead acetate (LA) (50 mL/ kg per rat), PJ (1 mL), and LA + PJ. It was observed that the malondialdehyde level of the LA+PJ decreased compared to the LA. The glutathione level of the LA decreased compared to other groups. LA + PJ had higher glutathione S-transferase enzyme activity than C and lower than LA. Carboxylesterase activity increased in the LA + PJ compared C and LA. Pb level in the LA + PJ was higher than C and lower than LA. Also, Mn levels increased LA+PJ compared to LA. Testosterone decreased LA but increased in PJ and LA+PJ compared to LA. LA and PJ had similar histological structures to and PJ. It was determined that PJ had a curative effect against Pb toxicity in testicular tissue.Öğe Investigation of the effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on brain volume in cancer patients: brain tumor study(Springer, 2026) Deniz, Birgul; Arpaci, Muhammed Furkan; Pekmez, Hidir; Uzun, Gokce Bagci; Inceoglu, Feyza; Harputluoglu, HakanPurpose Brain tumors, characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of abnormal cells within cerebral tissue, remain clinically challenging entities. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy constitute fundamental therapeutic modalities; however, their effects on healthy brain structures are not fully understood. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of these treatments on volumetric changes in brain structures and tumor size in patients with primary or metastatic brain tumors. Methods A retrospective cohort of 47 patients aged 18-90 years treated at Inonu University Turgut & Ouml;zal Medical Center between 2012 and 2023 was analyzed. Brain MRI scans were evaluated at three time points: pre-treatment, post-radiotherapy, and post-chemotherapy. Radiotherapy was delivered at a median dose of 60 Gy in 30-33 fractions, and temozolomide was used as the chemotherapy agent. Volumetric measurements of the telencephalon, diencephalon, ventricles, white matter, brainstem, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex were performed using MRICloud, while tumor volumes were quantified using the VolBrain platform. All volumetric differences were statistically tested using repeated-measures ANOVA with corresponding p-values reported. Results A statistically significant increase in telencephalon volume was observed after radiotherapy, followed by a return toward baseline measurements after chemotherapy. The diencephalon demonstrated a significant and persistent volume reduction following radiotherapy (p < 0.05). No statistically significant volumetric changes were identified in the ventricles, white matter, brainstem, cerebellum, or cerebral cortex (p > 0.05). Tumor volume changes were also statistically evaluated and showed no significant differences across the three time points (p = 0.456), indicating stable disease during the treatment course. Conclusion Radiotherapy and chemotherapy lead to region-specific volumetric alterations in the brain. The transient telencephalon enlargement is more likely attributable to treatment-related edema or inflammatory processes rather than functional improvement. The persistent diencephalon volume decline may reflect early treatment-related tissue vulnerability. Incorporating automated volumetric assessment into routine follow-up may support early detection of therapy-related structural changes and facilitate more personalized treatment planning.Öğe Relationship between post traumatic stress disorder and hand dimensions and hand grip strength in children aged 8-12 exposed to earthquakes(Nature Portfolio, 2024) Uzun, Gokce Bagci; Arslan, Ayla; Arpaci, Muhammed Furkan; Demirel, Emre; Karakas, NeseEarthquakes cause severe destruction in the region where they occur. Children and adolescents are the group most affected group by earthquakes, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is most common in this group. The age-related increase in Grip Strength varies between childhood and early adolescence. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Hand Grip and Hand Measurements of children exposed to the Kahramanmara & scedil;-centered earthquake on February 6, 2023. The Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Response Scale for Children was administered to 116 children who in children between the ages of 8 and 12 groups, and consent was obtained from the participants. Morphometric measurements of the hands of the children were measured with a digital caliper. Children's hand Grip Strength measurements were made by using a digital hand dynamometer. The analysis of study data was performed with the SPSS (Statistical Program in Social Sciences) 25 software. Positive and statistically significant relationships were detected between right and left-hand Grip Strength and right and left-hand measurements of females and males (p < 0.05). Statistically significant and negative relationships were detected between PTSD and right and left-hand Grip Strength and right and left-hand measurements in females and males (p < 0.05).In the present study, it was detected that as post-traumatic stress disorder increases, hand Grip Strength decreases. We think that these findings will guide future prospective studies.
