    Self-knowledge and Adolescence
(Elsevier Science Bv, 2015) Gur, Cagla
In this study, self-knowledge of 9th grade students was examined. The study sample consisted of 30 (15 girls and 15 boys) 9th grade students from middle socio-economic level. The schools and students involved in the research were selected randomly; however students that were known to have suffered traumas or psychological problems were excluded from the study in consultation with the class teachers and school guidance counselors. The materials used were therapeutic cards (Mythos cards, Habitat cards, Persona and Personita cards - the cards were approved for use by adolescents by five field specialists), white A4 papers and pastel paints. The students were then asked to choose cards and afterwards create drawings and explain their stories that they draw. The drawings were evaluated by the researcher. It was seen that the adolescents identify themselves by using their future professions (their dreams), associate important events in their lives with their own birth dates and educational lives, describe happiness as spending more time with friends, anger as being alone more frequently, studying and being directed by others, trust as families and unity/soliditary and insecurity as loneliness and hypocrisy. (Nesibe Aydin Education Inst, 2015) Safak, Munire; Bayrak, Fatma; Sirin, Nursen; Uslu, Banu; Gur, Cagla; Kocak, Nurcan; Yazici, Caner
Within the scope of the Education of Values Project conducted by Turgut Ozal University and the Ankara Directorate of National Education, 200 preschool teachers were trained during the 2012-2013 academic year. In accordance with the positive feedback from these teachers in terms of their applications in their classrooms, the training is generalized in 19 districts of Ankara. As part of this project, 19 teachers who attended previous trainings were trained as formatter teachers. These formatter teachers educated teachers within the districts. These teachers in the districts applied the program in their classrooms during the education process. The purpose of the present study was to gain information about the results that might come up regarding the ideas of the teachers who were trained by the formatters when they applied the Program of Education of Values in their classrooms. In the present study, 237 teachers were asked to evaluate the training they had via the Project Evaluation Form after completing the training regarding the Education of Values. From the pool of these 237 teachers, 88 of these forms were completed and returned to the researchers, so that the opinions of the teachers' trainings given by formatters were evaluated depending on these forms. Considering the training they had and the program applied, the Teacher Evaluation and Personal Information Forms developed by the researchers, were the tools used to collect the data. In the present study the teachers generally stated positive opinions, and considered the program useful even when it is extended and taught not only by teachers but also by the formatters. The Study of 48-60 month-old Preschool Children's Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation Conditions
(Turkish Education Assoc, 2015) Gur, Cagla; Kocak, Nurcan; Demircan, Arzu; Uslu, Banu Bac; Sirin, Nursen; Safak, Munire
The purpose of the present study is to examine 48-60 month-old preschool children's social competence and behavior evaluation conditions. Relations between gender differences, social competence, anger-aggression, and anxiety-introversion are also examined. From the correlational and comparison type of General Scanning Model, Relational Screening is used. The study group is formed with 847 pre-school children (417 girls and 430 boys) who were 48-60 months-old and living in the center of Ankara. Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation Scale (SCBE-30) with a personal information form are used to collect data within the study. Frequency (f) and percentage (%), Arithmetic Mean ((X) over bar), Standard Deviation, Ss, Mann Whitney U Test, Correlation Analysis (Pearson Correlation Coefficient) were applied and significance level is determined as 0,05-0,01-. According to the findings, while there was a meaningful difference in favor of girls regarding social competence, the difference in terms of anger-agression was higher in boys. However, there was no statistically significant difference regarding anxiety-introversion, girls' arithmetic mean scores of anxiety-introversion were found higher than boys'. When the relation between social competence, anger-aggression and anxiety-introversion is examined, there were reverse relations between social competence and anger-aggression; social competence and anxiety-introversion. Contrary to this, the relation between anger-aggression and anxiety-introversion was positive and meaningful.
