The Mediating Role of Self-Compassion in the Relationship Between Psychological Resilience and Life Satisfaction in Young Adults

The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between psychological resilience and life satisfaction among young adults. The sample of the study consists of a total of 203 young adults, including 154 females (75.9%) and 49 males (24.1%). The data were collected using the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the Adult Psychological Resilience Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale, and a Demographic Information Form prepared by the researcher. The data were analyzed using independent samples t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and regression-based bootstrapping method. The findings indicate that participants' levels of psychological resilience are positively and significantly related to their levels of self-compassion and life satisfaction. Additionally, a significant positive relationship was found between self-compassion and life satisfaction. According to the results of the mediation analysis, self-compassion was found to mediate the relationship between psychological resilience and life satisfaction. The results were discussed in light of the relevant literature.
