Öğe Depression and alexithymia’s effects on emotional eating in people with type 2 diabetes(2023) YAPRAK, BÜLENT; ALATAŞ, HACER; Aytaş, Özgür; Arslan, NurgülAim: Examining the impact of depression and alexithymia related to emotional eating in people with type 2 diabetes is the goal. Materials and Methods: The study included 180 people with type 2 diabetes be- tween the ages of 18 and 65 who applied to the internal medicine outpatient clinic at Malatya Turgut zal University Training and Research Hospital. The patients were given the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), the Dutch Eating Behavior Scale (DEBQ), and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DAS-21). Results: The study’s participants had an average age of 44.21±11.33 years. The study discovered a significant positive correlation between emotional eating and the challenge of defining stress and emotions (p<0.05). The sub-dimensions of emotional eating of depression, extroverted thinking, female gender, difficulty identifying and differentiating emotions and bodily sensations, and regression analysis were used to explain 18% of the total variance in Type-2 diabetes patients (R2=0.18). Conclusion: It has been found that emotional eating in type-2 diabetes patients is influenced by the gender factor, depression, and difficulty identifying and differentiating bodily sensations.Öğe FARKLI PROTEİN KAYNAKLARI İÇEREN BESİNLERİN KISA SÜRELİ TOKLUK BELİRTEÇLERİ, SERUM İNSÜLİN VE GLUKOZ DÜZEYLERİ ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ(2023) Arslan, Nurgül; ÇAKIROĞLU, FUNDA PINAR; ALATAŞ, HACER; keskin, lezanAmaç: Proteinlerin besin kaynağından dolayı tokluk üzerine etkileri de farklı olabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada iki farklı protein kaynaklı kahvaltının tokluk belirteçleri, serum insülin ve glikoz üzerine etkisini incelemek amaçlandı. Yöntem: Bu çalışma 18-45 yaş arası 31 sağlıklı birey ile randomize çapraz geçişli olarak yürütüldü. Çalışmada farklı protein kaynağına sahip iki farklı kahvaltı bireylere sunuldu. Kahvaltılar bitkisel ve hayvansal kaynaklı besinlerden oluşturuldu. Bireylere kahvaltı sonrasında tokluk durumunu ölçmeyi amaçlayan VAS skalası 30 dakikalık aralıklar ile uygulandı. Bireylerden kahvaltılar sonrası serum insülin ve glikoz seviyesinin ölçümü için 30 dakika aralıklar ile kan numunesi alındı. Bireylerin kahvaltı sonrası ad libitium beslenme ile enerji alım miktarları BEBİS programı ile saptandı ve karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: İki farklı kahvaltı sonrası bireylerin kombine tokluk skorları arasında 30.,60.,90. ve 210. dakikalardaki farklılıklar istatiksel olarak anlamlı bulundu (p<0.05). Bireylerin serum insülin düzeyleri hayvansal kaynaklı kahvaltıda bitkisel kaynaklı kahvaltıya göre her ölçümde daha yüksek bulundu. Serum glikoz düzeylerinin bitkisel kaynaklı kahvaltıda hayvansal kaynaklı kahvaltıya göre başlangıçta hızlı bir yükseliş görülürken 90. dakikadan sonra hızlı bir düşüşün olduğu saptandı. Ad libitium beslenme sonrası bireylerin bitkisel kaynaklı kahvaltıdan sonra alınan enerjinin ortalamasının daha yüksek olduğu ve her iki kahvaltı arasındaki ortalamalar arasındaki farkın istatiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu saptandı (p<0.05). Sonuç: Hayvansal kaynaklı kahvaltı sonrası bireylerin daha uzun süre kombine tokluk skoruna sahip olduğu, daha yüksek serum insülin düzeyi daha düşük glikoz düzeylerinin olduğu saptandı. Kahvaltı sonrası alınan enerji miktarının hayvansal kaynaklı kahvaltı sonrası daha düşük olduğu saptandı. Çalışma sonuçlarına göre özellikle hayvansal kaynaklı besinlerin daha uzun süre tokluk belirteçlerine neden olduğu sonucuna varıldı.Öğe The correlation between vitamin D levels and inflammation, as well as the Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI), in older adults(2023) Arslan, Nurgül; YAPRAK, BÜLENTAim: Older adults’ populations often have insufficient vitamin D (vit-D), which may contribute to autoimmune diseases and inflammation. Few studies have examined vit-D levels and immune function in humans. The study looked at vit-D levels and inflammatory markers in older adults. Materials and Methods: Retrospective research was done. The hospital’s records were searched for the study’s data. Participants were 65-year-olds who applied to the geriatrics and internal medicine outpatient clinic between May 2020 and May 2022. Each person’s vit-D nmol/L, CRP(mg/L), lymphocyte/monocyte, neutrophil/lymphocyte, platelet/lymphocyte, ferritin, and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) levels were measured. Results: A total of 427 outpatients who applied to the geriatrics and internal medicine outpatient clinic between May 2020 and January 2022 were analyzed. Among these patients, 103 did not meet study criteria. A total of 324 participants who met the study criteria were evaluated and the participants’ mean age was 73.21±5.24 years. The mean level of vit-D found in older adults was 14.18±6.14 nmol/L. It was discovered that there was a negative correlation that was statistically significant between the individuals’ levels of vit-D and the ratio of CRP(mg/L) to MPV(fL) (p<0.05). Vit-D and PNI were found to have a correlation of r=0.205, which was found to be positive and significant (p<0.05). Logistic regression analysis was performed with vit-D level and related factors. Every 0.721 increase in PNI result in an additional unit of 25(OH) vit-D. It was found that the CRP (mg/L) variable contributed significantly to the model, and it was discovered that the presence of 1 unit of 25(OH) vit-D was increased for every 0.202 unit decrease (p<0.05). Conclusion: Insufficient vitamin 25(OH)D is found in the older adults population. 25(OH) vit-D has a negative relationship with CRP and MPV, but a positive relationship with PNI, an indicator of nutritional status. The study suggests that vit-D supplements should be provided if an older adult has adequate vit-D.Öğe The relationship between death risk and nutritional factors in individuals with acute coronary syndrome(2022) YAPRAK, BÜLENT; Arslan, Nurgül; AKBULUT, GAMZEThere is a relationship between low food intake and risk of death in patients with acute coronary syndrome. In this study aimed to examine the relationship between The Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE risk score) and food intake.: 140 men over 35 years of age with Acute Coronary Syndrome were included in the study. The 1-day energy and nutrient consumption of individuals was determined using a 24-hour food consumption recording method. Based on the GRACE risk score classification system, the patients were divided into four quartiles (89.5?Q1?72, 102.5?Q2?89.5, 117.75?Q3?102.51, 152?Q4?117.76). The macro and micronutrient intakes of individuals were compared between the four groups. Nutrient intake decreased in the group with the highest grace risk score. inadequate nutrient intake further increased the GRACE risk score. A negative correlation was found between the GRACE risk score and macro and micronutrients (p<0.05). We found that the increase in the GRACE risk score decreased the food intake otherwise a low level of food intake increased the risk of death.Öğe The relationship between dietary antioxidant capacity and serum oxidative stress index of hemodialysis patients(2023) ALATAŞ, HACER; Saka, Mendane; Arslan, Nurgül; YAPRAK, BÜLENT; Otlu, Önder; Pembegul, IremPurpose: Oxidative stress increases in uremic conditions such as kidney failure and during hemodialysis. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the total antioxidant capacity of the diet and the serum oxidative stress (sOSI) index in hemodialysis patients. Materials and Methods: In this study conducted with 82 individuals (41 patients and 41 controls). Demographic characteristics and anthropometric measurements of the individuals were taken by researchers. In order to determine the nutritional status of the individuals, 3-day food consumption records were taken and the total antioxidant capacity of the diet was calculated. Results: The mean age of the individuals participating in the study was found to be 54.01±2.24 years. Hemodialysis treatment mean for 4.8±3.12 years. While 41.46% of hemodialysis patients were moderately malnourished. Dietary Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (dORAC) (?mol) measurement result was found to be 2415.3±1073.45, 5468.4±2393.85 in the hemodialysis and control groups, respectively. In the multiple logistic regression analysis performed, the decrease in body mass index (OR 2.21 95% CI 1.050-2.317) and triceps skinfold thickness values (OR 3.22 95% CI 1.722-4.001) in hemodialysis patients led to an increase in the sOSI value. It has been observed that when dietary protein (OR 1.23 95% CI 1.003-3.189), vitamin C (OR 2.88 95% CI 1.004-3.106) and dTAC (OR 2.04 95% CI 1.967-2.001) increase, the sOSI value decreases in hemodialysis patients. Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between diet total antioxidant capacity and serum antioxidant level, and it was determined that the dietary antioxidant capacity of hemodialysis patients was significantly lower than that of healthy individuals. According to the results of the study, it is recommended to monitor the food consumption status of hemodialysis patients in order to increase the dietary antioxidant capacity.Öğe The relationship of depression and malnutrition with healthy eating index in elderly individuals(2023) ALATAŞ, HACER; Arslan, Nurgül; Aytaş, ÖzgürDepression, malnutrition, and the healthy eating index were assessed in this study of people aged 65 and up who sought treatment at an outpatient clinic for internal medicine. Participants were elderly people from Malatya, Türkiye, who had applied to the outpatient clinic for internal medicine. The three-day dietary recall method was used to obtain the records of food consumption among the elderly. The calculation of Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015) scores from food consumption. Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) was used to define probable depression, and Mini Nutrition Questionnaire-Short Form (MNA-SF) was used to determine nutritional status, using face-to-face interviews. The study were 185 individuals included. The mean age of individuals was 72.19±6.92 years. According to MNA-SF results, 32.3% of women and 27.4% of men were found to be malnourished. The mean body mass ındex (BMI) value of the individuals was 25.73±2.85 kg/cm2, and the BMI value of 56.22% of the individuals was within the normal range. The depression score mean was 8.86±4.73. Depression scores are higher in women, those with low monthly education and income, those who use multiple drugs, those with a low HEI-2015 score, and those who use them. There is a relationship between depression score and eating score. As the nutrition score and the HEI-2015 score decrease, the depression score increases. This study indicates that depressed older people consume less food. Early detection of depression and malnutrition is beneficial. Older adults should routinely use brief, easy-to-obtain diagnostic tools such as the MNA and GDS questionnaires to treat these related health issues quickly and effectively.Öğe The relationship of dietary antioxidant capacity with laboratory and anthropometric measurements in hemodialysis patients(MediHealth Academy Yayıncılık, 2023) Arslan, Nurgül; Alataş, Hacer; Pembegül, İremAim: Dietary antioxidant intake correlates with blood antioxidant content and protects against oxidative damage and related inflammatory complications. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between total antioxidant capacity of diet and effective factors with laboratory and anthropometric parameters in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Material and Method: The present case-control study consisted of 62 cases and 59 controls individuals who received hemodialysis treatment between the ages of 35-75. Dietary intake, sociodemographic data, medical history, and anthropometric measurements were collected from participants using a validated questionnaire. Results: Examining the association between dietary components and diet's total antioxidant capacity (dTAC) reveals a positive correlation between dietary protein (kg/avg), beta carotene (mcg/day), vitamin C (mg/day), vitamin E (mg/day), and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) (g/day) (p=0.002). The serum albumin, serum neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and HDL-cholesterol have been reported to have a positive relationship with dTAC. And body mass ındex (BMI) and other anthropometric parameters were found to have a negative connection with dTAC (p=0.007). Conclusion: Total dietary antioxidant capacity is effective on anthropometric measurements and serum laboratory values. Increasing the antioxidant capacity of the diet in hemodialysis patients is important to prevent complications related to inflammation.Öğe Üniversite öğrencilerinin fonksiyonel besinlere yönelik tutum, davranış ve bilgi düzeyinin değerlendirilmesi(MediHealth Academy Yayıncılık, 2023) Arslan, Nurgül; Alataş, HacerAmaç: Bu çalışmada Malatya ilinde kamu üniversitesinde eğitim alan öğrencilerin fonksiyonel besinlere yönelik bilgi düzeylerini belirlemek, tutumlarını ve davranışlarını etkileyen faktörleri değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Materyal-Method: Çalışmaya Malatya ilinde üniversitelerde öğrenim gören 363 kadın ve 255 erkek olmak üzere toplam 618 birey dahil edilmiştir. Araştırma verileri yüz yüze anket yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Anket formu demografik özelliklere ilişkin sorular, beslenme alışkanlıklarına ilişkin sorular, genel sağlık durumuna ilişkin sorular, antropometrik ölçümler (vücut ağırlığı, boy uzunluğu) ve fonksiyonel besinler bilgi düzeyi ve besin tercihi ölçeği bölümlerinden oluşmaktadır. Veriler SPSS programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan bireylerin yaş ortalaması 23.15±4.25 yıldır. Bireylerin %65.04’ünün daha önce fonksiyonel besin terimini duyduğu saptanmıştır. YETBİD-Temel Beslenme Bilgisi Puanın kadınlarda (54.66±8.85), erkeklere (51.14±8.22) göre daha yüksek puan ortalamalarına sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir (p=0.031). Bireylerin fonksiyonel besinler için bilgi tutum ölçeği güven alt başlığı puanı kadınlarda (3.95±1.04), erkeklere (3.15±1.04) göre daha yüksek saptanmıştır (p=0.044). Temel beslenme puanı hem kadınlarda hem erkeklerde yükseldikçe fonksiyonel besinlere yönelik tutum ölçeği puanının da artığı görülmüştür. Yapılan çoklu regresyonda fonksiyonel besinlere yönelik tutum ölçeği toplam puanını kadın cinsiyet, eğitim süresi, temel beslenme puanı, besin tercihi puanı değişkenlerinin anlamlı olarak etkilediği belirlenmiştir (p
