ABSTRACT
This study aims to reveal the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics, depression and life satisfaction levels of housewives in Istanbul, Turkey. In the study, ‘Socio-Demographic Form’ prepared by the researcher; ‘Life Satisfaction Scale’ and the ‘Depression Scale’ was used. The sample of the study consists of 294 housewives living in Istanbul. The mean age of the participants in the study was 38.49±8.54 (mean±s.deviation). 28.8% of housewives stated that they did not work due to child care, 8.4% stated that they did not work because their husbands did not give permission. A significant negative
correlation was found between depression and life satisfaction levels of housewives. It is considered that this research will guide professionals working in the field of women
